We hosted the first ever dinner, “In the Belly of the Whale,” on Wednesday, July 13th, 2016. After a tour of the Workstead House | Charleston--then in a state of studs--a group of 16 gathered around an old farm table, enjoying fresh-baked sourdough bread, summer salads and sliced meats. With the gentle hum of a large fan in the background and the sun setting through the tall windows, the invited guests ate, drank, and delighted in one another’s company. It was yet another magical night in a house that had undoubtedly seen much merriment among its storied walls.
During the course of the evening, guests were invited to steal away from candlelit conversation for a portrait session with Charleston-based photographer Jeff Holt. The backdrop was hand-painted, and the intention was simple: to capture a moment in time, and all the beauty within it.
